Board Game Bargains Hit Rock Bottom During Amazon's October Prime Event
Key takeaways
- Settlers of Catan reaches all-time low at 40% off; Ticket to Ride also matches lowest Prime Day pricing
- Lightning deals and Prime membership exclusivity apply to most discounts; stock is limited on select items
- Licensed themed editions (Bluey Monopoly Jr, Lord of the Rings Duel) and quick-play games available alongside strategy titles
Amazon's October Prime Day event is now live with substantial markdowns across board games from major publishers including Asmodee and Hasbro. Settlers of Catan has plummeted to its lowest price this year with a 40% discount, while Ticket to Ride and other strategy staples have also reached their lowest prices since the previous Prime Day. Beyond the classics, themed editions like Bluey Monopoly Jr and the Lord of the Rings Duel board game are also discounted, offering family-friendly alternatives alongside deeper experiences. Quick plays like Monopoly Deal and Candy Land are available under $15, while co-op games like Pandemic cater to veteran players seeking lengthier campaigns. Most deals are exclusive to Prime members and some are lightning deals with limited stock.
The bigger picture
Board games already on sale rarely drop further during Black Friday, making this Prime Day window particularly valuable for collectors. However, heavier titles like Wingspan remain absent from current discounts, suggesting Amazon will roll out fresh promotions throughout the event. The focus on licensed editions reflects publisher strategy to capture casual and family audiences alongside core tabletop enthusiasts, positioning licensed games as gateway products competing for shelf space against evergreen classics.
We're tracking October's Prime Day board game deals because this is genuinely the time to stock up—prices rarely go lower than what you're seeing right now, so holding out typically backfires. Whether you're building your first collection or upgrading your game night rotation, the mix of accessibility and depth makes this event worth your attention.
